By a cancer survivor and member of North Parkersburg Baptist

For really as long as I can remember, I wanted to serve the Lord. God gave me some opportunities, such as leading youth with my husband and ministering at youth camps, then, once I got too old and decrepit for sleeping in dorms, God gave me a wonderful opportunity to minister to others as a chaplain for hospice. No greater honor…

“Other than being Spirit-led to help others hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there has been no greater honor as a Christian than to take the concerns of someone who has been hurt by this world to the cross and lay them humbly at the feet of God. As a Stephen Minister, the Christ-center relationship you develop with your care receiver gives you a unique opportunity to have a front-row seat in hearing the story written in someone’s heart. Walking alongside them with the Holy Spirit leads to finding forgiveness, comfort, and understanding for them while also helping you gain greater faith as you watch God move in their lives through you." –Daniel Roes
