Hey, Parents! We are so excited to head into the month of February. There are several great moments that are on the calendar and several that have already happened at the beginning of this month. We just finished up a very successful “Souper Bowl” fundraiser and raised $700 towards our Summer Camp Scholarship Fund. Speaking of summer camp, there is some exciting news on a price change for the high school camp that you will want to check out. We are getting ready to head into our second Disciple Now weekend with our middle school students February 9-11. We will be focusing on the what it means to S.O.A.K. into God’s word through Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. It’s not too late to sign up! Below is all the info you need to know for what’s happening the rest of the month.
Mark Your Calendar
- February 9-11 - DNow Middle School Weekend
- February 18th – Valentine’s Day Revolution 5-8 Floor One
- February 25th - Baptism (morning service)
Valentine’s Day Revolution
On Sunday night February 18th, we will have our first annual Valentine’s Day Revolution. We are going against the “typical” Valentine’s Day weekend and creating a revolution in gaming. Students are asked to come to floor one dressed up and ready to compete with a teammate (students will be paired up anonymously) to win prizes. The night will feature games, food, and fun. The event will be from 5-8 and students are encouraged to dress nice for the event.
Sunday, February 25th is Baptism Sunday. If you have a student who is interested in getting baptized, please let us know so that we can get information to you. We would love for your student to be a part of this special day.
February Message Series Teen: Doctrine
Doctrine is the word Christians use to define the truth-claims revealed in Holy Scripture. Of course, there is a multitude of churches, church networks, and denominations, each with their own doctrinal statement with many points of disagreement. While Christians disagree on a number of doctrines, there are key elements that cannot be denied by anyone claiming to be a follower of Jesus.
In Doctrine: What Christians Should Believe, we will teach teens eight of these key elements. This overview of basic doctrine will help students clarify and articulate their beliefs in accordance with the Bible.
February Message Series Tween: Simple Truth
Imagine empowering your students to explore some life-shaping, thought-provoking, Jesus-centered truths that can transform them into the kind of people God crafted them to be.
That’s what Simple Truth is all about!
Lessons are built around four central themes from Scripture:
- Oneness with God
- Sin and Separation
- Consequences and Crying Out
- God Hears and Restores
Students will discover how to experience hope in the middle of tough times, how God deeply and passionately loves them, how to build an authentic friendship with Jesus, and how they were created to lead a life of impact in this world and for eternity.
Summer Camp Dates and New Price
Spring approaching means summer camp will be here before you know it. We just want to remind families that summer camp registration for both Teens and Tweens is officially open. Tweens (5th-7th grade) will be going to Camp Cowen June 17th-23rd and the cost is $200.
The big announcements for the Teen Summer Camp is a price reduction for Early Birds. We have reduced the cost for the trip for those who will take advantage of early registration. During the month of February and March if you make a $50 deposit towards camp you will be locked in at the reduced price of $225. That’s $75 off the original price. The price goes up to $250 during the month of April and May and the cost goes again to $300 for June and July. So, if you have a high school student who wants to spend a week at the beach, please take advantage of this great opportunity today.
E2 Family Day
Our next E2 Family Day will be Sunday, March 4th. This is a great time to experience what a typical Sunday morning feels like for your student. Breakfast will be served and we will be talking about important upcoming dates involving your student. Please make plans to attend this great day.
New Facebook Groups
To create even more clear communication on our Facebook pages, we are in the process of creating separate groups for our Tween and Teen programs. We encourage you to join these groups so that you can consistently be informed with what is going on in student ministry. The links for both groups are below:
We have come up with a new budget system to help families with the cost of summer camp. If the cost of camp is too high for your family, you can be a part of our financial assistance program and work fundraisers throughout the year to help offset the cost of camp for your student. For more information on this program, please contact Adam via email email@example.com.
