FAQ
What does a Sunday morning service at North look like?
Both services are identical and contemporary in design. Both services run one hour in length and have a variety of elements such as praise and worship with a band, drama, video, and a relevant message.
What should I wear to church?
Whatever you feel comfortable wearing. If you would like to come casual, please do so. Some wear jeans and a t-shirt. Others wear khakis and a shirt. And some still wear a dress or a shirt and tie. The key is there is no dress code. Come the way you want to. Please do not feel like you have to impress anyone.
How will I know where to go once I get to North?
North can be a large and confusing place. We suggest coming a few minutes early to make sure you feel comfortable getting to where you need to go. We suggest looking at the facilities map which you can view under the New to North section of the navigation bar. There will be ushers in tan polo shirts who are available to help you at any point.
Do you play hymns in your services?
Yes. Since we have a great multi-generation congregation we play the hymns of old with the sounds of new. We take a hymn and put it to a contemporary sound. You could say its the best of both worlds.
Is there a choir?
Yes. Their role is to sing about twice a month in the services along with special events and choir concerts. Community is just as important in the choir as singing.
What type of music would I hear at church on Sunday mornings?
North has an excellent band that plays praise and worship (congregation music) along with special songs (special music) that compliments the service theme of the morning. Praise and worship could range from two to five songs and there are usually one to two special thematic songs any given Sunday.
Whats the difference between Sunday morning worship and the evening services?
Sunday worship is designed for a larger spectrum of a persons spiritual journey. Someone may come on a Sunday who is just checking out the whole God thing and that is okay. That is why a Sunday morning service has a number of creative elements that someone could connect with in a service. The Sunday and Wednesday evening services are focused on more in-depth teaching from the Bible. They are both great ways to be more grounded in your beliefs and grow in your relationship with God.
Will someone point me out if I am a visitor at your service?
Absolutely not. Visitors are not asked to stand up to be recognized or called out in any way. You are a guest to us in every way and are not even expected to give money for the offering.
How does North feel about using creative arts in a service?
We realize that each person has different modes of learning. Some are auditory and could listen for hours. Others are visual and need to see to understand more clearly. We try to be multi-sensory by offering music, video, drama, story-telling, and visual aids to help communicate the theme for the morning beyond the traditional mode of preaching.
What type of programs are available for my children on a Sunday morning?
There are childrens programs available for children from infant to 6th grade both hours. At 9:45am, children are in groups according to their age and at 11:15am, they get to experience a large group kids' service. Teenagers in 7-12th grades meet at 9:45am and join the worship service at 11:15am.
Do I have to bring my Bible or know a lot about the Bible to understand a service?
Not at all. On Sunday mornings, youre welcome to bring your Bible if you would like but not expected to in order to follow along in the message. Any verses that are used will be posted on a screen for you to follow along. The Sunday evening and Wednesday evening services are where bringing your Bible is more encouraged. And if you're not very familiar with your Bible, it's a great time to learn!
If I want to find out more about North or even become a member, what is my next step?
We would suggest signing up for the Welcome Class. Next class is Sunday, November 11 after the second service. Lunch and childcare are provided. Please sign up if you would like to attend.
Does North have a school associated with the church?
Yes. North Christian School is affiliated and supported by the church. NCS offers Pre-K to 6th grade with multiple classes developing each year. Check out more information about the school under Ministries on the navigation bar.
How is the staff organized at the church?
North is a staff led church that is supported by an Advisory Team and an Elder Team which consists of church members. Day to day operations are overseen by ministry staff.
